This is the official version of the DTU25 Mean Sea Surface (MSS) from DTU Space derived using nadir and interferometric data including SWOT altimetry. The resolution is 1 km (1/100 degree). The MSS is referenced to the 1993-2012 period (center time 2003.01.0) in agreement with older MSS models.

You can find an experimental version of the MSS fitted to 2023 using linear sea level change propagation from 2003 to 2023. This is called: DTU25MSS_2023X. We repeat that DTU25MSS_2023X is an experimental MSS model that has been fittet to the period of 2023 to benefit SWOT.

The DTU25MSS is available online in two file formats and in two reference systems.

Reference system:

TOPEX ellipsoid (DTU25MSS_TOPEX) or WGS84 ellipsoid (DTU25MSS_WGS84)

File formats: NetCDF or Gravsoftt (DTU Space vintage ASCII file format).

On request we can provide the MSS in XYZ file format where the grid is written out in columns.

2003 version of MSS: DTU25MSS_TOPEX or DTU25MSS_WGS84

Experimental 2023 MSS: DTU25MSS_2023X_TPX or DTU25MSS_2023X_WGS84

Gridsize and coverage:

Min latitude: -90.0, max latitude 90.0: Min longitude: 0.0; max longitude: 359.99.

Gridsize: 18001 cells (latitude) x 36000 cells in longitude.
