Supplementary data for manuscript: Wei, Z., Kristiansen, T., Kristiansen, D., & Shao, Y. (2024). Experimental and theoretical investigation of drag loads on side-by-side flexible blades in a uniform current.
This dataset provides supplementary materials for the work by Wei, Z., Kristiansen, T., Kristiansen, D., and Shao, Y. (2024).
Data
The file `CWT_test_cases.csv` contains a list of all test cases, detailing the blade properties (including dimensions and the number of blades per bunch) and current speed. The associated non-dimensional parameters are also provided.
The Python script `analytical_drag_reduction.py` solves the non-dimensional static governing equation of motion for a flexible blade subjected to a uniform current, yielding the reconfiguration number.
The Python script `linear_stability.py` solves the non-dimensional small-amplitude flutter equation for an umdamped cantilever beam in axial flow with no friction or gravity.
The folder `numerical_simulation_videos` contains some simulation videos generated using the numerical model (Wei2024). Each video is labeled according to four key parameters: the Cauchy number Ca, the buoyancy parameter B, the aspect ratio l/b, and the number of blades per bunch N.
The folder `experiment_videos` contains some videos recorded during the experiments. Each video is annotated with the number of blades per bunch N, the aspect ratio l/b, the blade thickness d, the submergence of the struts d1, the buoyancy parameter B, the current speed U, and the Cauchy number Ca.
