Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was conducted on dried brick clay (7 days, 50°C) and dried SSA (24 h, 105°C). Samples (35-40 mg) were crushed in a mortar to ≤ 63 μm and placed in an aluminium oxide crucible in a NETZSCH STA 449 F3 Jupiter. The temperature-dependent mass loss was measured from 35 to 900°C, heating rate 10°C/min, and the cell was purged with 50 ml/min nitrogen gas.
