Solution plots for the artificial instances in the paper "The Bus Rapid Transit Investment Problem"

Instance Naming

The naming of the files uses the pattern "[ALPHA_1]_[ALPHA_2]_[BETA]_[Z]_[OBJECTIVE].xml", where ALPHA_1, ALPHA_2, BETA, Z and OBJECTIVE correspond to the cost pattern, demand pattern, budget split, the number of allowed BRT components and the passenger response applied in the objective, respectively.

Explanation of plots

For the setting determined by the instance name, the upgraded segments are displayed for certain investment budgets, where 100% investment budget corresponds to the costs for upgrading all segments. The set of non-dominated points is condensed to ten budget ranges and shows the solution with the highest number of newly attracted passengers within each range. Segments are colored according to the corresponding municipalities if they are upgraded and are gray if they are not upgraded. The color shade displays the share of passengers using the segment compared to the total number of potential passengers. The width of a segment corresponds to its costs. The load profile for the completely upgraded BRT line is given at the top. The investment costs are given as a percentage of the costs for upgrading all segments, and the attracted passengers are given as a percentage of the potential of the completely upgraded BRT line.
